Bubbly drinks can be refreshing—no doubt! But the sugary kind has been linked to weight gain and an increased risk for heart disease and diabetes, as well as possible premature aging. (I was a diet soda addict for an embarrassingly long time until I kicked the habit about two years ago—but I’m still a sucker for those bubbles.)
So! If you’re looking for alternatives, here are some bubbly, sugar-free yet still tasty ideas.
Zevia: It has no calories and no sugar (the sweet here comes from stevia). It comes in 15 different flavors—including Cream Soda, Black Cherry, and Grapefruit.
Flavored sparkling water: Adding oranges, lemons, limes, cucumber, limes, or mint to sparkling water is delish. You can also opt to make your own bubbly water with something like a Sodastream, which comes with various flavorings—not all of them are calorie-free, but at least a few are, and you can always experiment with your favorite juices.
Tonic with citrus fruit: Tonic has a tang, as all G&T lovers know. Just squeeze in some orange, lemon, or lime and you won’t even miss the gin.
