Our Fashion-Come-Back for this edition is the BEAD.

Beads are small, decorative objects, formed in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are made from materials such as glass, plastic or wood and  pierced for threading or stringing.

Beads are also fashionable items, used as accessories and they make great dress complements.

Beads, years back….

If you can recall, years back or so, a common and trending dress accessory in almost every wardrobe and accessory shop stand, was undoubtedly the bead.

So trendy were beads then that many people, rocked it for any occasion, be it to weddings, birthday parties, worship places, the office, schools and even as a casual wear.

Beads were virtually everywhere, proudly gracing necks, ears and wrists.BEADS

Beads soon became a household name, it became the rave of the moment, everyone was learning how to make it, I learnt it too, made a couple for friends and family and even earned some money for myself from its sales.BEADS

Fast forward, to years later, wouldn’t know what happened, but as swiftly as beads came into our fashion world, same way, it drifted off too.
In place of beads came wireworks, those beautiful wire assemble and of course, our ever living gold and silver accessories.

Celebrities rocking the beads…
Beads usage cut across culture and race. Africans, as well as Asians, particularly of Indian extraction have beads as part of their cultural heritage. Some folks of other nationalities like the Americans, French etc also use beads to express fashion/style statement

Interestingly, the attraction for beads cuts across gender, it sits comfortably on ladies, as it does on men. And these days, it wouldn’t be unusual, rather it would be hip, seeing men rock beads, particularly on their wrist and sometimes on their neck.

For me beads are always classy, beautiful and comfortable pieces, with which one could hardly go wrong.

Come on, rock some nice trendy beads today, you won’t be sorry.

About Tolulope Ajayi

Tolu might not think of herself as a fashionista, but from her childhood, she’d always loved being creative, and learning to do things on her own, with her hands, most of which fortunately, coincidentally, now have become fashion – she sews, makes hair, makes customized jewelries, shoes,  bags,  beads, and bakes (well, that may not be part of fashion…lol).

She loves with passion, her career as an Advertising and Marketing Communications Practitioner. Tolu enjoys reading, writing, movies and music. Her favorite fabrics of all times are the Ankara and Chiffon, neckpieces happen to be her most loved fashion accessory.

Tolu’s personal style guideline is what she calls Style C3- Creative, Comfortable and Classy.
